Prayer Space Activities
Prayer Doors
To investigate prayer through making and using prayers doors.
Selection of felt tip, pens, small wooden hinged doors, selection of craft embellishments and glue gun
We have designed this activity to symbolise opening the door to prayer. First take a small wooden door. The door you decorate needs to be able to open. Decorate your prayer door with the felt tips, in a design of your choice. Once you have decorated your prayer door with colour, you can add some craft embellishments. The most effective way to secure the embellishments was to use a glue gun. Always have an adult to support you when using a glue gun. Now you have personalised your prayer door, find a quiet place to sit either by yourself or with a group of friends. Look closely at your prayer door, how does your door represent you? Open your door and imagine the door is opening so you can talk to God in prayer. What do you see when you open your door? How do you feel? Take time to talk to God about the things you want to share and the things you need help and guidance with. These doors are small enough to fit in your bag and take anywhere with you.
