Spiritual Development Activities
Hook a Value
To examine a variety of values and virtues.
Small child’s paddling pool or water tray, 10 plastic ducks, a stick with a hook attached to the end.
This activity is designed to allow children to think about situations that they would need certain values, virtues or qualities. Firstly decide which value, virtue or quality will correspond to the numbers on the bottom of the ducks. By numbering the ducks you can change the values each time you play the game e.g.
1 - represents love 2 – represents encouragement
3 – represents honesty 4 – represents support
5 – represents listening 6 – represents friendship
7 – represents trust 8 – represents determination
9 – represents forgiveness 10 – represents helpful etc.
Take turns in your group to hook one of the ducks, look at the number on the bottom and tell the group of a situation where you used that value, virtue or quality.
