Natural Prayer Weaving
To investigate prayer.
Large natural sticks/branches, string, wide ribbon, felt tip pens and scissors.
Tie the large tree sticks/branches together to make a rectangle. Next, use string to create a surface to weave by tying lengths of string from the top branch to the bottom branch. Give each person in your group a length of ribbon that is long enough to reach from one side of the weaving frame to the other. Each person is now asked to write a prayer along the ribbon. It can be a prayer giving thanks for something, asking for help in something, asking for forgiveness about something or praying for others. Each person weaves his or her ribbon prayer in the weaving frame. Encourage members of the group to read others’ prayers when weaving their own. Once the weaving frame is full it can be put on display for others to read. It can be taken to church or used as part of a school act of worship.
