Aim

Prayer Wind Chimes

To further explore different ways to pray.

You will need

Paper, single hole punch, feathers, beads, paper clips, circular ring/wreath, string, bells, selotape, fishing wire, scissors, felt tip pens and pens.

Through this activity we will explore prayer further and look at another way of offering prayers up to God. First of all sit quietly and compose your prayer. You can ask for help with something, pray for others, give thanks for something etc. Roll your prayer up into a tube and secure it with a small piece of selotape. To make the wind chime, take the hole punch and make a hole at the top of the prayer at each side, also make holes all the way around the circular cardboard. Open up a paper clip so each end fits into the 2 holes at the top of your prayer. Repeat this with all the prayers. Add a length of fishing wire to the paper clip and add beads and feathers, then attach them at different lengths to the circular cardboard. Use more fishing wire to add bells to the circular cardboard. Hang the wind chime outside and sit and reflect on your prayer and listen to the sound of the bells as the wind catches your wind chime. The wind and the sound of the bells symbolise your prayers being offered up to God.
