Acceptance

* This week in Ethos to Go we are exploring the values of acceptance and tolerance.
* Watch the video on the blog. Children from Bishop Bridgeman have produced a fantastic video for this week, looking at the importance of these values.
* Why do you think it is important to be accepting of others?
* What can to do to be more accepting of others?
* What bible stories can you find that demonstrate people who accepted the differences of others?
* What is the difference between tolerance and acceptance? Which is more important? Why?
* Can you think of examples when you have been accepting of others?
* How can we follow the example of Jesus?
* Use the window, mirror and door technique to reflect on acceptance

We have learnt that it is good to be different and that it does not matter about what your religion is or what you look like, we are all unique and that's a good thing.

It's ok to have a different faith. It is nice to find out about what other people do in their culture. It doesn't matter if you are Muslim or Christian, because you can still be friends. All religions are important for all people.

We recognise in Nursery that we may have different hobbies, religions or culture but we are respectful and listen to others. We treat our friends how we wish to be treated.

We discussed the meaning of tolerance and talked about what we should be tolerant of, as well as what we should not tolerate. We talked about the Good Samaritan as an example of a tolerant person in the bible.

It is important to accept people, not just tolerate them. Everyone is different which means that we all have our own cultures, hobbies and interests. We should accept everyone for who they and we should treat others how we want to be treated.

Our class thinks that we are going to try to be more accepting of new things. We will make our own mind up about trying things. We want to try different things, such as new food and new celebrations.

We discussed the different things we should be tolerant of. For example, we should accept different beliefs, personalities, abilities but we should never accept or tolerate violence or discrimination.
