Black History Month W/C 10/10/21

Black History Month

* This week we are looking at the importance Black History Month
* Watch the video on the blog. St James children have produced a fantastic video this for this week, looking at Black History Month.
* There are lots of examples in the Bible where God shows us that we should share and care for each other, irrespective of background?
* Why is it important to celebrate Black History Month?
* Can you find out about the fantastic contributions of black people in our society?
* Why is it important and the right thing to do to treat everyone fairly and with respect?
* What do you think Jesus would say on this subject?
* Use your window, door and mirror key rings to reflect on not giving up. How do you feel now? What have you discovered? What will you take away from this week’s Ethos to Go?

We should all remember: love God ,love yourself and love your neighbours.Don't judge by their skin colour because we are all the same on the inside. We should be happy that you are different to someone else, celebrate your uniqueness. !

We talked about how sad it was that people where segregated in the past. Year 3 felt that everybody deserves the same rights as each other and that our differences should be celebrated.

We really enjoyed our Shades session with Nicola this week. We explored the different cultures in our class and what makes up our identity. We had to think about something we love about ourselves which W some of us found quite tricky.

We don't just celebrate black history in October, we celebrate it throughout the year. It doesn't matter what colour your skin is, you can still achieve anything you dream of. Everyone should be proud of who they are.

We understand and appreciate everyone's differences. Whether that be there skin colour or any other aspect of their person. We believe that we are all God's children and he loves us as equals.

Some of our thoughts include: - Love God, love yourself and love your neighbour. - Don't judge people by the colour of their skin. - We might be different on the outside, but on the inside we are the same. - Being different is good, celebrate it.

God made us all different and that is good. Having a different skin colour doesn't matter. He loves us all.

It isn't fair when people are treated differently. We should remember to treat people how we would like to be treated.

Bobby Class 7 St James

We should always respect each other even if we are different.

Tyler Class 7 St James

I think that everyone should be treated the same because it wouldn't be fair to disrespect anyone because of their skin colour. You could hurt someones feelings when you are unkind.

Mariam Class 7 St James

I think that everybody should be treated the same as it doesn't matter if someone has a different skin colour.

Hadassah Class 7 St James

Class one said it was very sad that somebody told Rosa Parks to get off the bus just because they had different skin. They think it was really mean. We could make sure we tell other people to be nice to everybody no matter what skin they have.

Class 1 St James

We should celebrate everyone whatever the colour of their skin. We are friends with everyone and treat everyone the same whoever they are.

Class 2 St James

None of us should be mean to other people because of the race. Everyone should respect each others differences whether they're black or white. I think that black history month is very good so you know about respecting people.

Emma Class 10 St James

We think that it is not fair that people are treated differently just because of what they look like. We have talked about the quote 'treat each others as you wish to be treated yourself'. We think this is really important.

Class 4 St James

This inspired me to show respect because it showed me that people shouldn't be treated differently because off there colour off there skin . We should celebrate this .

Emma Class 10

I think it is important to celebrate black history month because millions of black people Were enslaved for years And eventually managed to earn their freedom but they had to fight for it

Manu Class 10 SJ

I think this inspired me because it shows different black people what they did and everyone should be treated the same whoever they are

Ruth Class 10 St James

We think it is unfair for people to treat others differently because of their skin colour. We should all be treated as equal and the Black communities have brought great things to our culture.
