Advent 2022

* This week we are looking at the season of Advent.
* Watch the video on the blog. St Maxentius children have produced a fantastic video this for this week, looking at the importance of Advent.
* What, if anything, does the time of Advent mean to you?
* Why is it so important for Christians to have this season of reflection and preparation?
* What sort of things can you do throughout Advent to help you
   reflect and develop?
* What sort of things can your school do throughout Advent?
* What is the significance of the 5 candles on an Advent wreath?
* Use your window, door and mirror key rings to reflect on not giving up. How do you feel now? What have you discovered? What will you take away from this week’s Ethos to Go?

We think Advent is an important time of year because we have lots of celebrations inc the Christingle and Nativity performances, Christmas parties, the giving and receiving of cards and gifts and another time to think about Jesus inc his birth.

We discussed that advent is important because it prepares us for the birth of Jesus but it also is a count down to time we can spend with our families celebrating and sharing the love.

In BB, we have a school advent calendar to countdown the days to Christmas, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We also have an advent wreath with candles which we light each week. These represent hope, love, joy and peace.

Advent is important because it prepares us for the most amazing gift we have been given - Jesus. Each of the candles represent a key value.

Advent is important because it prepares us for the build up to Jesus' birth. Over advent, during worship, we light the appropriate candles to mark the 4 Sundays leadings up to Christmas. Advent is a exciting but reflective time for us all.
