Ethos to Go W/C 20/09/21 Don't Give Up!

Don't Give up!

* This week we are looking at the importance of not giving up.
* Watch the video on the blog. St James Ethos children have produced a fantastic video this for this week, looking at the story of Robert the Bruce and not giving up.
* There are lots of examples in the Bible where God shows us that we should persevere and not give up. Can you discuss any?
* How do you feel when you give up on something?
*How did you feel when you keep trying until you succeed?
* How can you help those in your school and community to keep going when they feel like giving up?
* How can God help us to keep going when we feel like giving up?
* What do we learn by persevering with something?
* Use your window, door and mirror key rings to reflect on not giving up. How do you feel now? What have you discovered? What will you take away from this week’s Ethos to Go?

If you give up uou can't achieve your dreams and goals. The feeling might come but you should always know that the word strength is always with you and never up.The more you try the more you know and the more, the more smile you have when you succeed

We enjoyed writing on our spider templates as it reminded us of the story and inspired us to not give up. We know that sometimes we may not always achieve what we want, but we must keep going and have hope.

In Year 2 we discussed how it felt to succeed and how it makes you feel proud once you have completed your task. We also discussed what the words patience and resilience means and how not giving up helps you develop these qualities.

Year 3 felt that the story inspired us to persevere and never give up in all aspects of our lives including our learning. We liked that the story also linked to our Christian value this half term of Hope, as the spider never gave up Hope.

Even though we're in the video, it's still tough to succeed for everyone. But like the video taught us, if at first you don't succeed try and try and try again! So this sends out the message that through Him and hope anything is possible.

Ethos will help me this week, because it will help me with school. If I fail I will try again until I succeed. It's made me think to keep trying until I get it right.

We liked that it said you should never give up. The story said Robert didn't give up because he watched the spider, and the spider didn't give up either.

Taking time to reflect is important to make sure you don't fail or give up. The story helped us to reflect on the importance of perseverance and how we can help each other. We have also discussed the guidance and support God gives us.

In Reception we have been learning lots of new things. It can be quite scary when you try to do something for the first time. After listening to this story we have talked about how important it is to keep trying and not to give up! Thank you!

We agree that when you don't succeed you should try again. We also believe that if you make a mistake you shouldn't be worried, but try again and learn from the mistake. We also discussed how God forgives our mistakes and guides us.

God can help us because when we pray to him he can help us feel more resilient and confident. You know that he is always listening to your prayers. He will guide you.

An example in the Bible is the lost sheep. In the story, the shepherd keeps on looking for his sheep and does not give up. Sometimes when you give up, you might regret it in the future. Other times, it will make you feel unmotivated for the day.

When I have succeeded after persevering, I feel that I have conquered my fears and I feel proud of myself.

We think people should not give up the first time they can't do something like riding a bike without stabilisers. You might fall off but that doesn't mean give up, try and try again. Kian said 'If you have a dream believe in it and don't give up!'

It is important to persevere and not give up on something. The more you practise or do something the easier it will become and the elation you feel for persevering is so powerful. We thought about our recent efforts in swimming and how we persevered.

You have to embrace the unknown every single day, and push forward regardless of what challenges arise. Most of the time, people give up on their goals simply because they lack discipline. They can't get themselves to see something through to the end
