Honesty

Please leave your comments on our blog. We love to read your ideas!

* This week we are looking at the value of honesty. Why is it important to be honest?
* Watch the video on the blog Bishop Bridgeman Ethos children have produced a fantastic video this for this week.
* There are lots of examples in the Bible where God shows us that being honest is the right thing to do. Can you discuss any?
* How do you feel when you have lost something? Do you feel happy or do you want it back?
* If you find something, what do you think is the right thing to do.
* Do you think you have a right to keep something when you find it?
* If a friend did not keep a promise, or told a lie, how would that make you feel?
* Do you think you would feel proud of yourself if you cheated?
* How would you feel, to think your friends and family didn’t trust you?

If you are not honest to someone more than once means that they will not believe you at other times. Even if you could get Into a lot of trouble for it, you should still tell the be honest because you would get into more trouble for lying.

It is good to be honest because when you are needed then people will help but if you are like the child in the story no one will come to help when you ACTUALLY need help.

It is important to tell the truth because if you lie it will make you feel bad, develop into a bigger situation and people will not trust. Honesty is the best policy!

We really enjoyed watching you tell the story of the Boy who Cried Wolf. We talked a lot about making sure that we tell the truth and we don't lie because then nobody will believe us.

If you lie no one will trust you. However if you tell the truth people will trust you. Now we understand not to lie because if you do lie no one will think you are honest.

It is important to be honest because if my family didn't trust me, like the village people didn't believe the boy, I would be heartbroken. They would think I'm not an honest person and would tell my friends I'm not honest.

I would not feel proud if I cheated because it is not the right thing to do and I would not deserve the thing I cheated for.

If I find something that does not belong to me, I will try to give it back or hand it in to a responsible adult.

If a friend did not keep their promise and lie i would feel betrayed and backstabbed as he did not keep a promise. I would not feel proud if i cheated because I would be copying someone else's work and not thinking for myself.

When you have lost something you would feel disheartened yes you would want to have it back since u payed for it or was given it//If you find something thats not yours for example "A Bike"You should leave it because its valuable to someone 1/2

When I have lost something,I would feel disheartened because no matter what it is,it'sreally important to me. If I find a £20 note or something else I would find who owns it or put it in a lost and found area.

When i have lost something i would feel dejected because it would probably be something important. I would probably want it back because it is my property. If I found something like a bike i would find who it belongs to because it is not my property.

I think it is good to be honest because you will probably live your life with regrets. Honesty is the key to success so you should keep your promise and never be a liar.

I think being honest is really important. Cheating is no use as it will get you nowhere in life and after you have done it you will feel guilty- its just a waste of time. There is a saying "finders keepers" but that is just like stealing!

When someone lies we feel angry, disappointed and sad. If we find something that isn't ours we find who it belongs to and give it back to them to make them feel happy again. We don't want to make people sad so will always try to tell the truth.

Class 2 St James

We understand that honesty is about telling the truth and we shouldn't tell lies. If you tell lies your friends will not trust you.

The moral of the story is that liars will not be rewarded; even if they tell the truth, no one believes them.We should always be honest and tell the truth .

We also discussed what we would do if found something that didn't belong to us. As a class we agreed that we wouldn't keep it but try our best to find it's owner or return it to a sensible adult who could help.

We discussed how we would feel if something we loved had been lost. Year 1 told me they would very sad, heartbroken, angry at myself for losing it.

Being honest allows others to believe you and impart their trust onto you. It is an important value because without honesty, people will not show respect to others meaning that the world becomes an unkind and selfish place.

Honesty is so important in our lives. Not only does it mean our friends and family can trust us but it also means we can make the journey through our lives being an active role model for honour and integrity.

If you are honest, you will build people's trust in you. The boy who cried wolf taught us that you shouldn't lie as other people won't trust you. You can build a reputation for lying if you do it too often and then, nobody will believe you.

Honesty is important in our lives. If we are not honest, people will find out that we have hidden something from them. The boy lied to the people in the story and when he was actually being honest nobody believed him.

We enjoyed listening to the story about the wolf. We have talked about the importance of telling the truth and how it makes you feel if you tell a lie. We thought about situations where lies might have been told and that we would regret telling lies

Cheating will usually leave you feeling empty and guilty and usually isn't worth it in the end. You might feel happy to get a good mark but if you feel guilty at the same time the happiness probably won't last. Remember, it's okay to make mistakes.

Honesty leads to a fulfilling, free life. Honesty is not just about telling the truth. It's about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want and what you need to live your most authentic life. ... Honesty sharpens.
