* This week we are looking at the season of Advent.
* Watch the video on the blog. St Maxentius children have produced a fantastic video this for this week, looking at the importance of Advent.
* What, if anything, does the time of Advent mean to you?
* Why is it so important for Christians to have this season of reflection and preparation?
* What sort of things can you do throughout Advent to help you
reflect and develop?
* What sort of things can your school do throughout Advent?
* What is the significance of the 5 candles on an Advent wreath?
* Use your window, door and mirror key rings to reflect on not giving up. How do you feel now? What have you discovered? What will you take away from this week’s Ethos to Go?

We have advent calendars at home which we use to count down the days to Christmas. In school, we have enjoyed the advent assemblies and listening to Mrs Belfield teach us all about what the different candles represent.

We have an advent calendar in class to count down the days until Christmas Day. We are enjoying using a reading advent calendar, getting a chocolate coin and small treat to remind us of the lead up to Christmas and reflect on what Christmas means.

We learnt all about the different candles on an advent wreath and what they mean. During advent we are going to do an act of kindness a day such as help somebody in need, smile at someone, give somebody a handmade gift, make a new a friend.

Members of our class are using the candles and calendars to build up to Christmas. Advent is important because it helps us understand how long there is until the important day.

We recognise that Advent has different meanings for people. It was interesting to know that some of the candles on the Advent wreath represent some of BB's school values.

In Year 3, we have looked at Advent and the meaning behind each individual candle. We love that the wreath is made of evergreen leaves as this shows God's everlasting love for us. We have an advent calendar in class to count down until Christmas!

We talked about Advent being the start of the christian calendar. Advent is the countdown to the birth of Jesus on the 25th December. We looked at the advent candles and what they represent - love, joy, hope and peace. L1 Year 1

Advent is the time when we prepare for the coming of Jesus. We can prepare for Jesus by being kind and generous and by saying sorry for all the things we have done wrong. In our school community we try to show hope, love and generosity to others.
