Queen's Platinum Jubilee

* This week we are looking at the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.  
* Watch the video on the blog. St Maxentius children have produced a fantastic video this for this week, looking at the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
* How do you think the Queen’s life has changed over the 70 years she has been Queen for?
* Our Queen has been Supreme Governor of the Church of England since 6th February 1952. How do you think God has supported her in such a responsible position?
* Compare life in these periods of history - 1920’s when the Queen was born, 1950’s when she was crowned and life today?
* Can you think of examples of people in the bible that has huge responsibilities? How and why did God choose them? How did he support them?

I think that the queen's jubilee shows us not how long she has been our Queen for but also that you have to face the things that get in your way. The queen had lots of roles and equally all of her roles are important

facts about the Queen: .she is 95 years old .she was 25 when she became Queen .70 years ago she became Queen .she had 2 or 3 kids .Buckingham palace was destroyed 3 times .

Year 3 are very happy to be celebrating the Queens Jubilee. We hope that the Queen continues to reign for many years to come.

In year 5 we have been talking about all the important roles the Queen has. We also discussed ways in which we could celebrate this important event. The children suggested parties, fireworks and a standing ovation for our Queen.

The video told us about the Queens Jubilee and the celebrations that people celebrate at this time. They celebrate with food and some people have street parties. It is important because it celebrates the 70 years of Elizabeth being the queen.

We watched the video and discussed why it is important to celebrate the Queen's platinum jubilee. The children talked about how they will celebrate; this included eating cake, singing the national anthem and thanking the Queen.

Through her reign the Queen has seen many changes, such as technology - we referenced the black and white TV that people watched her coronation on. The Queen has encouraged the use of British Values in her reign.
