* This week we are looking at the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
* Watch the video on the blog. St Maxentius children have produced a fantastic video this for this week, looking at the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
* How do you think the Queen’s life has changed over the 70 years she has been Queen for?
* Our Queen has been Supreme Governor of the Church of England since 6th February 1952. How do you think God has supported her in such a responsible position?
* Compare life in these periods of history - 1920’s when the Queen was born, 1950’s when she was crowned and life today?
* Can you think of examples of people in the bible that has huge responsibilities? How and why did God choose them? How did he support them?

We think God has given Queen Elizabeth the courage to lead and inspire, the hope for a better future and the trust and self-belief in herself for our country.

The 1920's were different to now because schools couldn't afford to give dinners like now and not many girls went to school compared to now.

I felt really sad for the people in the 1920s because they had to eat HORSE meat and raw milk to drink sadly and they only had very small amounts of food for a week and i was shocked to see that Buckingham palace was bombed 3 times then.

the children in the 1920s were working in the mines. it would be really hard work! We loved what the Queen was wearing for her coronation but think that her crown would be too heavy for her to wear every day.

They didn't have televisions they listened to the radio. The queen travelled in a gold carriage not a car.

The Queen might ask God for help with countries being friends and not fighting. The Queen might ask God to help guard her and keep her safe. She might ask God for help to make people treat others with respect and honesty.

The Queen will ask God for support by praying for our country and other countries around the world.

Life has changed in lots of ways for the Queen. One of the ways we thought of was how much technology has moved on and how people can get around easier now so she can travel easier to see the different countries in her monarchy.
Class 5 St James

People hanged flags from their windows and wore their fancy clothes. It was different because they didn't have medication and hospitals like they do today. People wasn't treated right. Their photographs were black and white.

God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus which is a big responsibility. God guided them by providing a place for them to give birth to Jesus and inspired others with the star of Bethlehem.

The Queen was born in 1926 meaning she lived through World War 2. There wasn't such developed technology back then so the Queen mist have had to develop and adapt to it. Also, in the Bible, God chose David to be King so he had great responsibility.

We think a lot has changed since this time. We now have hospitals where we can go to be looked after and everyone is treated in hospitals including children, men and women. Children also don't have to work in the mines anymore as it wasn't safe.
